The mystery to me is why the anti-tax movements aren’t actively soliciting support from those states that pay more in taxes than they get back in federal outlays on the grounds that, all other things being equal, those states have the most to gain from a reduced Federal government. It could have something to do with political composition of those states. The majority of them are blue, whereas the majority of the states getting more back than they pay in are red.
